Plot of Bad Memory Eraser (2024)
In this Bad Memory Eraser, Lee Goon (played by Kim Jae-Joong) was once a promising tennis player with a bright future ahead of him. However, a serious injury derailed his career and shattered his self-esteem, leading to a complete change in his life. Struggling with his lost identity and confidence, Lee Goon’s situation takes an unexpected turn when he undergoes a procedure involving a memory eraser. This procedure wipes away his past memories, allowing him to be “reborn” with a new sense of self-worth and a commanding presence.
As a result of the memory erasure, Lee Goon becomes a completely different person, brimming with confidence and charisma. However, this transformation is not entirely natural, as it is heavily influenced by the manipulation of his memories. His new life includes a fabricated first love, Kyung Joo-Yeon (played by Jin Se-Yun), who is a psychiatrist working at the brain research center responsible for Lee Goon’s procedure. Kyung Joo-Yeon plays a significant role in Lee Goon’s new life, though their relationship is based on manipulated memories.
Lee Goon’s younger brother, Lee Shin (played by Lee Jong-Won), is the world’s number one-ranked tennis player. Unlike his brother, Lee Shin has achieved the success that Lee Goon once dreamed of. Despite their different paths, the bond between the two brothers remains a central part of the story, highlighting the tension between Lee Goon’s past failures and Lee Shin’s current success.
Jeon Sae-Yan (played by Yang Hye-Ji) is another important figure in Lee Goon’s life, serving as Lee Shin’s translator. Her role brings her into close contact with the brothers, and she becomes a part of the complex dynamics surrounding Lee Goon’s new identity and relationships.
As Lee Goon navigates his new life, questions arise about the ethics of memory manipulation and the true nature of identity. Can a person truly be reborn if their past is erased? And what happens when the lines between reality and artificial memories begin to blur? The story delves into these psychological and emotional challenges, creating a narrative filled with intrigue, conflict, and exploration of the human mind.
