Plot of Doctor Stranger (2014)

In Doctor Stranger, Park Hoon (played by Lee Jong-Suk) experiences a life-altering event as a child when he and his father are kidnapped by North Korea. In the hostile environment of North Korea, Park Hoon’s father, who was already a skilled doctor, trains him to become a surgeon. Under his father’s guidance, Park Hoon grows into a genius chest surgeon, mastering the art of surgery in the harshest of conditions.

Despite his extraordinary medical skills, Park Hoon yearns for freedom and a normal life. Eventually, he manages to flee North Korea and makes his way to South Korea. Once there, he begins working as a doctor at Myungwoo University Hospital, one of the top hospitals in the country. However, despite his talents, Park Hoon feels like an outsider in his new environment. His past in North Korea and the way he was trained set him apart from his colleagues, who are unaware of the struggles he has endured.

Driven by his love for a woman he left behind in North Korea, Park Hoon becomes desperate to reunite with her. Determined to bring her to South Korea, he is willing to do anything to make enough money to achieve this goal. His single-minded determination often puts him at odds with those around him, as he navigates the complexities of the South Korean medical world and the dark undercurrents of his own past.

Doctor Stranger is a gripping drama that blends elements of medical intrigue, romance, and political tension. It explores themes of identity, love, and sacrifice, as Park Hoon battles against the odds to reclaim the life and love he lost when he was taken from his home as a child. The series highlights the struggles of a man caught between two worlds, fighting to protect those he cares about while confronting the ghosts of his past.
