Plot Goblin (2016)
Goblin (2016) – In ancient times, Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) is an unbeatable general in wars, but the young King (Kim Min-Jae), consumed by jealousy, orders his death. Despite his prowess, Kim Shin is killed by the King’s soldiers. After his death, Kim Shin is transformed into a Dokkaebi (Goblin (2016), cursed with immortal life. Initially believing this immortality to be a blessing, he soon realizes it is a curse, as he must wait 900 years for a human bride who can end his eternal existence.
Approaching the present day, Kim Shin saves a dying pregnant woman (Park Hee-Von), who is destined to die. The Grim Reaper (Lee Dong-Wook) is unable to find the woman’s soul. She gives birth to a baby girl named Ji Eun-Tak (later played by Kim Go-Eun). Goblin (2016)
Nine years later, Ji Eun-Tak, who can see ghosts, lives with her mother. One night, her mother suddenly passes away, and Ji Eun-Tak encounters the Grim Reaper.
In the present day, Ji Eun-Tak is a high school student who continues to see ghosts, hearing their whispers about “Dokkaebi’s bride.” She lives with her aunt’s family, where she is mistreated. On her birthday, while sitting by the sea with a lit birthday cake, Kim Shin suddenly appears behind her. Though he does not know why, he can hear her voice and appears in front of her involuntarily. Coincidentally, Kim Shin lives with the Grim Reaper in the same house.
Kim Shin continues to appear before Ji Eun-Tak whenever she turns off the lights. One day, she tells him that he is Dokkaebi and that she is his bride, setting in motion a series of events that intertwine their fates.
