Plot of Homemade Love Story (2020)

The Homemade Love Story drama series follows the intertwined lives of the residents of Samgwang Villa, focusing particularly on Woo Jae-Hee (played by Lee Jang-Woo) and Lee Bit Chae Woon (played by Jin Ki-Joo).

Woo Jae-Hee is an architect, estranged from his wealthy father, Woo Jung-Hoo (played by Jung Bo-Suk), who runs a large company. Due to a long-standing feud, Woo Jae-Hee chose to live independently after entering university, refusing any financial support from his father. He has since built a successful career for himself, known for his intelligence, good looks, and professional achievements. His life takes a turn when he meets Lee Bit Chae Woon for the first time at a house remodeling site.

Lee Bit Chae Woon works at an interior design shop, where her role involves visiting clients to assist them in choosing curtains, lighting, and other design elements. Her first encounter with Woo Jae-Hee leads to an argument at the remodeling site. Despite their initial clash, they discover they are both residents of Samgwang Villa, a place with contrasting significance for each of them.

Woo Jae-Hee has a warm connection to Samgwang Villa and appreciates the community atmosphere, finding comfort in the camaraderie among the residents. In contrast, Lee Bit Chae Woon has a more complicated relationship with the villa. She bears the heavy responsibility of supporting her family, which includes her mother, Lee Soon-Jung (played by Jeon In-Hwa), and her two younger siblings. While she dreams of becoming a textile designer, her reality is dominated by the burden of being the family’s primary breadwinner. This weight makes her yearn to escape from Samgwang Villa and the responsibilities that come with it.

As their lives continue to intersect, Woo Jae-Hee and Lee Bit Chae Woon navigate their personal challenges, aspirations, and the complex dynamics of family and community. Through their journey, the series explores themes of love, responsibility, and the pursuit of one’s dreams amidst the constraints of reality.
