Ji Kang-Hee (Lee Se-Young) grew up at Motel California, a small motel run by her father in her rural hometown. Her mother came from a mixed-race background, making her family stand out in the village. Because of her unusual family situation, Ji Kang-Hee became the subject of gossip and whispers among the locals, leaving her with a deep emotional scar.
During her childhood, she had a close friendship with Chun Yeon-Soo (Na In-Woo), who was also her first love. However, at the age of 20, she decided to leave her hometown and move to Seoul. Now, 12 years later, she is a successful interior designer, reaching the peak of her career. Yet, for reasons unknown, she decides to return to her hometown, where she crosses paths with her first love, Chun Yeon-Soo, once again.
Chun Yeon-Soo now works as a veterinarian in the village. Despite receiving constant attention from local farmers eager to set him up with their daughters, the only woman he has ever loved is Ji Kang-Hee. To avoid awkward matchmaking attempts, he allows a rumor to spread that he plans to marry a fellow veterinarian. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when Ji Kang-Hee reappears after 12 years.
